The Berkowitz Law Firm LLC Discusses Widow’s Medical Malpractice Case

Written by Berkowitz

A medical mistake can severely impact the lives of individuals and their families, especially if the error is a grave one. Case in point, Berkowitz and Hanna LLC
refers to news of a recent court decision in Alabama where a Walker County jury awarded $4 million to a woman in a medical malpractice case.

In this lawsuit, the jury found that the plaintiff’s late husband had died as a result of an emergency room doctor’s error. The physician mistakenly diagnosed the deceased’s symptoms of a heart attack as a stomach illness instead. Heart attacks are among the top misdiagnosed conditions in the U.S.

Testimony from both sides centered on the hospital’s standard of care. It was noted that the attending doctor should have ordered blood tests to consider, and rule out, the probability that the patient was having a cardiac problem. These tests were not administered and the jury found this to be clear medical malpractice.

Berkowitz and Hanna LLC possesses a long history of experience handling cases that involve medical malpractice and medical negligence. A jury award such as this one in Alabama is certainly worth noting.

Note: Berkowitz and Hanna LLC did not represent any parties in this case.
