Have you already dumped ice water on your head? Great because now it’s time take a walk for ALS! The Connecticut Walk To Defeat ALS will take place on Sunday, October 26 at Sherwood Island in Westport, and Berkowitz and Hanna LLC is the presenting sponsor for the event.
Mike Burke, Executive Director of the ALS Association CT Chapter, noted the importance of the event: “ALS is a disease that is 100% fatal. There is no known cure nor treatment. Every year in Connecticut we are seeing an average of 70 new patients and, sadly, an average of 70 die here each year. Berkowitz and Hanna LLC stands up for these patients year after year, providing funding that helps them get the services they need in coping with the day-to-day difficulties of living with ALS.”
Teams and individuals can walk the gorgeous 3-mile coastal course to raise money for ALS and bring hope to people living with the disease. Funds raised at the event help local ALS chapters sustain care services and research for much of the year. Check in is at 10 a.m. and the walk begins at 11 a.m. If you raise $75 or more, you will get a T-shirt for the walk.
Berkowitz and Hanna LLC’s charitable fund was designed to help organizations like the ALS Connecticut Chapter, and sponsoring events like this is one of the best ways the firm can use its funding.
Mr. Burke of the ALS Association CT Chapter said he appreciates the contributions of the law firm. “It’s one thing to do business in a given community, but entirely another to ‘do the right thing’ for the people who live in that community,” he noted. “ALS patients are truly fortunate to have Berkowitz in their corner here in Connecticut.”
“Thank you Russell, and the entire team at each of the firm’s locations. One day I hope that we can stand side-by-side and celebrate a cure for this horrible disease, knowing that we fought it together for so many years.” As do we at our firm!
