All year long, and even more so as Thanksgiving and the December holidays approach, Berkowitz and Hanna LLC remembers those who are in need. Homeless shelters and soup kitchens in the area do a great service for people who need food and shelter.
Recently, the firm’s charitable fund granted $4500 to Homes with Hope in Westport and $3000 to New Covenant House of Stamford. Both help men, women and children who either are already homeless or at risk for being so. New Covenant House’s mission is simple: to provide a nutritious meal to all those who are hungry. Homes with Hope also provides food for the homeless and those at risk of homelessness, and also offers safe emergency shelter, permanent supportive housing, and the supportive services needed to achieve a more independent and self-sufficient life.
“We all have much to be thankful for,” said Russell Berkowitz. “And at this time of year in particular, it’s important to share ours success with others who are less fortunate. As New Covenant House states on its website, there is no greater act of human kindness than to feed the hungry.”
