Russ Berkowitz has filed a lawsuit against Northeast Medical Group and Yale New Haven Health Connecticut Heart and Vascular Center in Bridgeport Superior Court on behalf of the estate of a client who died suddenly of a heart attack just two days after being evaluated by a cardiologist who was employed by the defendants. Our client, a 57 year old painter with a long family history of coronary artery disease, started having intermittent chest pain and shortness of breath approximately 6 weeks prior to his death. He visited the defendant cardiology group and underwent a stress test that was interpreted as normal. Over the course of the next few weeks, our client’s chest pain and shortness of breath became more regular and pronounced, so he returned to his cardiologist who advised him that his symptoms were non-cardiac in nature and probably related to anxiety. He was discharged from care without any further diagnostic testing for cardiovascular disease. Our client dropped dead of a heart attack at work two days later.
