Attorney Jennifer Amdur volunteers monthly at Dress for Success Mid-Fairfield County a nonprofit whose purpose is to offer long-lasting solutions that enable women to break the cycle of poverty. Dress for Success is part of a global movement for change, empowering women to obtain safer and better futures. Dress for Success provides each client with professional attire to secure employment, but is much more than simply a new outfit. Besides physically equipping the client with apparel, the programs furnish her with a confidence that she carries forever and the knowledge that she can actively define her life, the direction she takes and what success means to her. Poverty often affects women the most, and its effects on them and their families can be long-lasting. Therefore, addressing women’s needs is central to improving the quality of life for not only that woman but also her family, future generations and her community.

As Jennifer says “Providing one-on-one personal shopping, discussion of future employment, interview tips, and, most importantly, confidence building is a powerful experience. When a woman walks into the boutique not knowing her suit size, or what to wear to an interview, and leaves feeling like she can “get the job” and acknowledges “she’s never seen herself in this way” is evidence of how much Dress for Success can do to empower women and lead to positive change.”
