Russ Berkowitz and Jennifer Amdur have settled a wrongful death medical malpractice case against a Connecticut internist who failed to timely diagnose and treat his fatty liver disease which ultimately caused his death. Our client, a former police detective, was never advised by his primary care physician for over 5 years that he had lab results consistent with liver disease. Even though our client was not a drinker, his liver disease silently progressed to end stage cirrhosis of the liver. By the time his liver disease was diagnosed, our client had developed an uncontrollable gastrointestinal bleed, was in septic shock, and his organs were failing. Unfortunately, it was too late for him to undergo a liver transplant. Prior to his death, our client was married (his high school sweetheart) and had two children. The terms of the settlement are confidential.
