Berkowitz and Hanna LLC has brought a lawsuit in Stamford Superior Court on behalf of a client who almost died at Norwalk Hospital following her weight loss surgery. Our client, a 58 year old mother, was discharged from Norwalk Hospital several days after her weight loss surgery despite developing symptoms and radiographic evidence of a post-surgical perforation and anastomatic leak (medical emergency). Within twelve hours of her hospital discharge, her condition deteriorated to the extent that she was rushed back to Norwalk Hospital in septic shock and following the diagnosis of the perforation and leak, underwent emergency surgery to save her life. While our client has survived, she has been forced to undergo multiple complicated surgeries, is totally disabled from working, and her life has been permanently altered.
