Connecticut’s largest provider of residential services for people with both physical and developmental disabilities. Founded in 1953 by dedicated parents aiming to enhance the lives of their disabled children, Ability Beyond Disability helps disabled individuals find suitable housing, employment, and the support they need to live full and satisfying lives.
ARI, Inc.
ARI (Always Reaching for Independence) provide a full range of programs and services for children and adults with developmental disabilities, including residential programs, day programs, employment, education, and school-to-life transitional programs.
STAR, Inc.
STAR, Inc. is a full service organization for infants, children, and adults with autism and other developmental disabilities.
CLASP Homes
CLASP operates a number of residential houses for people with developmental disabilities in Westport and surrounding towns. Since 1982, the group has created 13 homes and an apartment program to help disabled individuals increase their independence and live more rewarding lives.
Child Guidance Center
Child Guidance Center is a provider of mental and behavioral health services for children from low to moderate income families. The group’s mission is to reduce emotional suffering, correct dysfunctional behavior, create stronger families, and help all children and adolescents they work with reach their maximum potential.
Dignity Grows
Dignity Grows empowers our neighbors in need by providing menstrual and hygiene supplies for every body that needs them.
The Friendship Circle
The Friendship Circle engages children and teens with special needs through a full range of social, recreational, and therapeutic experiences. Stressing friendship, inclusion, and acceptance, The Friendship Circle currently assists more than 100 families of children with special needs.
Kids in Crisis
Kids in Crisis provides emergency shelter, crisis counseling, and community education programs for children of all ages and families dealing with a wide range of crises, including domestic violence, mental health, family problems, substance abuse and more. Last year alone, Kids in Crisis helped 5,913 children and their families.
Domus Foundation
Domus Foundation operates a dozen educational, residential, and community programs to help vulnerable youth get on the path to a satisfying and productive adulthood. Since 1972, Domus has helped thousands of youths embrace a more productive and positive life.
The Kennedy Center
The Kennedy Center provides a full range of services for people with a wide range of disabilities within the Greater Bridgeport. Founded in 1981, The Kennedy Center currently provides more than 2,000 individuals with residential, vocational, therapeutic, educational, social, and recreational resources.
ALS of Connecticut
The Connecticut Chapter of the ALS Association serves the needs of those living with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis(Lou Gehrig’s Disease). This organization funds research, patient and community services, and public education in the fight against ALS.

Voluntary Services for the Blind of Fairfield CountyVSB strives to enhance the quality of life of visually impaired residents of Fairfield County by providing friendly visitors, readers, clerical assistants, shoppers, and drivers.
Friends of Autistic People
Friends of Autistic People is a parents’ support group that is dedicated to bringing about an environment where adult children with autism can be assured of receiving high-quality care and assistance after they reach the age of 21.

Easter Seals provides exceptional services to ensure that all people with disabilities or special needs and their families have equal opportunites to live, learn, work, and play in their communities.
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Connecticut Chapter
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Connecticut Chapter is part of the largest nonprofit organization dedicated to the funding of blood cancer research. The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society also provides patient services, support and education across the country.
Special Olympics of Connecticut
Special Olympics of Connecticut works to provide sports training and athletic competition for children and adults with intellectual disabilities. Special Olympics strives to provide opportunities for participants to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy, share talents and build friendships.
Jewish Family Services
Since 1978, Jewish Family Services has worked to support families and individuals as they face life’s challenges. This organization provides programs and services in Stamford, New Canaan, Darien, Westport, Wilton and Norwalk to help build healthy communities.
Federation of Jewish Philanthropy
The mission of the United Jewish Philanthropy is to provide services which improve lives locally in Westport, Weston, Wilton and Norwalk, as well as abroad. This organization allocates funds to meet community needs in areas such as education and social services.
Stamford Public Education Foundation
The Stamford Public Education Foundation’s mission is to support the students and teachers in Stamford’s Public Schools through community collaboration and philanthropy. The foundation focuses on literacy initiatives for elementary level students, and on college and career readiness for middle and high school students.
Building One Community
Building One Community’s purpose is to strengthen the whole community by actively enhancing the healthy integration of immigrants through English language, computer, and other classes, connecting individuals and families with schools, health, legal, law enforcement, and other vital services, and developing job skills and a worker center to match immigrant workers with employers.

Waterside School
The Waterside School is a K-5 independent elementary school, focused on providing underserved children in the community with a quality education and access to opportunities that will help them excel in their educational, social and personal lives. The Waterside School is located in Stamford, Connecticut.
Homes with Hope
Homes with Hope is a Wesport-based grassroots organization that responds to the tragedy of homelessness with shelter and housing assistance. Homes with Hope provides care such as food, safe emergency shelter, housing and supportive services for those who have lost their ability to lead normal lives. Homes with Hope’s programs and services are organized by a caring and professional staff as well as hundreds of volunteers.
New Covenant House
The mission of New Covenant House is to provide nutritious meals to low income and disadvantaged members of the Stamford community. By creating a safe and compassionate environment New Covenant House helps children, women, homeless people, working poor and others on their path to safety, dignity and self respect. New Covenant House serves the greater Stamford area including New Canaan, Greenwich and Darien.
Shelter for the Homeless
Shelter for the Homeless serves to provide a safe and caring environment for those in need throughout Lower Fairfield County. They strive to obtain permanent housing and services for men and women with an emphasis on relevant needs. The goal of Shelter for the Homeless is to empower people to help themselves by providing a much needed “haven of hope.”
Food Bank of Lower Fairfield County
The Food Bank of Lower Fairfield County, Inc. serves as an efficient and effective provider of nutritious food to non-profit organizations that feed the hungry in Darien, Greenwich, New Canaan, Norwalk, Stamford and Wilton, while seeking to raise awareness of, and provide action to combat, hunger in those communities. They provide food to about 97 non-profit agencies and programs that serve low income people. As Lower Fairfield’s primary hunger-relief organization, the Food Bank offers an invaluable service to the community that Berkowitz and Hanna LLC is proud to support.

Laurel House
Provides mental health resources to people coping with mental illness, and their families, across numerous communities in and around Connecticut. Laurel House provides Resources to Recover through supportive services and programs including recovery planning, life skills coaching and skill building, education, employment, cognitive remediation (“Thinking Well”), housing and residential services, food service and wellness, social opportunities, and active outreach to individuals who might otherwise be isolated.
