At Berkowitz and Hanna LLC, experienced wrongful death attorneys handle cases that where the death of a person is the result of someone’s negligent or reckless behavior. No matter what the cause, the death of a loved one is painful. Recently, the law firm came across a report from NBC Sports’ College Football Talk section involving a $100 million wrongful death suit against a former Florida State University prospect.
High school linebacker Brian Bell was named in this suit brought on by the family of Kendrick Johnson, a fellow Lowndes High School student who was found dead in January 2013. In this suit, Bell, his brother, and three other students are alleged to be responsible for Johnson’s death. Johnson was found dead in a rolled-up mat in the school’s gym. The Lowndes County Sheriff’s Department had ruled it an accident, saying the teenager died of positional asphyxia after he got stuck trying to retrieve sneakers he had stored inside the mat. No criminal charges were filed and the Bells deny all allegations.
Berkowitz and Hanna LLC will further monitor the wrongful death suit involving Bell. With Connecticut cases involving wrongful death, the firm provides dedicated legal representation for parties affected by the loss of an individual.
