A motor vehicle accident in 2011 is the basis for a lawsuit that has been filed by Miranda Cosgrove. The actress, known for her role in the television show iCarly, claims she was forced to cancel concert dates and also lost earnings due to the accident. She and her mother are suing for $2.5 million. Berkowitz and Hanna LLC understands that significant damages can result from an auto accident and is interested in this celebrity lawsuit.

In Ms. Cosgrove’s case, her tour bus crashed into an overturned tractor-trailer that was stretched out across the road. The plaintiff was sleeping on a couch in the front of the bus at the time of the accident. As a result of injuries incurred because of the accident, she had to cancel her tour, had large medical bills and also allegedly lost contracts with Sony and Neutrogena due to her injuries. Her lawsuit has been filed in federal court in Illinois.

Unfortunately, auto accidents happen every day. Berkowitz and Hanna LLC knows that the question of culpability—or who is at fault—is always the central question in a lawsuit like this one.  Ms. Cosgrove alleges that both drivers were operating their vehicles in an unsafe manner and did not keep a “safe and proper lookout.” As testimony is taken and more facts are brought to light, the question of culpability will be answered and a judge or jury will determine whether to award damages in this case and then how much.

Berkowitz and Hanna LLC did not represent any of the parties in this case.
