Negligence Suit Filed Against Sleepaway Camp for Children with Serious Illness

Jennifer Amdur has filed a lawsuit in New Haven Superior Court against a sleepaway camp for children with serious illness on behalf of our 13 year old client. The lawsuit alleges that the camp failed to properly supervise our client on a “one-to one” basis as required by the camp’s own policies and procedures. During a negligent unsupervised swim in the camp pool, our client struck his head and sustained what the camp believed was a “minor” head injury. Because of the above, the camp delayed notifying our client’s family or having him admitted to the hospital for evaluation. Unfortunately, our client’s condition deteriorated and he was eventually transported to the hospital and diagnosed with a brain hemorrhage which required him to undergo emergency life-saving surgery. Our client has been left with a permanent brain injury as a result of the camp’s negligence.
