Train Bridge

News sources recently reported that a confidential settlement agreement has been reached in the wrongful death lawsuit filed by the family of Sarah Jones, who was killed on a train trestle in rural Georgia while filming the movie Midnight Rider. Berkowitz and Hanna LLC knows that oftentimes parties include confidentiality clauses in settlements, particularly in high-profile cases like this one.

The attorney for the decedent’s family noted that his client’s motives for the wrongful death lawsuit were clear: “To find out what happened on the day of their daughter’s death, determine who was responsible, hold those who made bad decisions accountable and ensure this kind of tragedy never happens again on another film set.” He said the family is “one step closer to fully achieving those objectives.”

Several of the defendants in this case, including director Randall Miller and producer Jody Savin, were also indicted for crimes including involuntary manslaughter and criminal trespass. That trial is scheduled to begin March 9, notes Berkowitz and Hanna LLC.

Berkowitz and Hanna LLC did not represent any of the parties in this case.
