One Killed, Two Paralyzed in Three Car Crash

A wrong-way driver hit the side door of a car on Route 2 Saturday afternoon, killing the driver in the second car and paralyzing his passenger. The fatal Connecticut car crash happened at approximately 4:15 p.m.

Lingxin Wu, 22, hit the couple’s 2008 Subaru Impreza, driven by Richard Sullivan. Sullivan, 68, suffered fatal injuries and his passenger, Barbara Sullivan, was paralyzed from the accident.

The Sullivans’ address is Old Richard Road in the Huntington section of Shelton. Wu, the wrong-way driver, also was paralyzed. He lives at Roanoak Avenue in the Willimantic section of Windham

Another car was unable to stop and hit the Sullivan’s Subaru while it was whirling wildly from the first collision, according to state police as told to the Courant. The driver of the third car, a 2006 Honda Accord, Jerry Johnson, of Massachusetts, was unhurt.

An ambulance drove Barbara Sullivan to Hartford Hospital. A Life Star flew Wu to the same hospital, said state police. All passengers had their seatbelts on, but the airbags of Barbara Sullivan and Johnson did not deploy.
