Berkowitz and Hanna LLC is reporting that the family of a man who suffered a heart attack at a casino has filed a wrongful death lawsuit. His family is suing the Potawatomi Hotel & Casino, alleging that employees failed to assist the man for several minutes after he had the heart attack.

Wrongful death refers to an incident when someone’s negligence or recklessness resulted in the death of another person. Berkowitz and Hanna LLC has years of experience in this area of the law.

According to a report on this lawsuit, the deceased “had the heart attack at 5:15 a.m., on Sept. 5, 2011. The complaint alleges that after the heart attack left him sprawled over two chairs, a group of employees passed by him without offering assistance. Only when a casino guest found him unresponsive at 5:22 a.m. and notified a security officer did he begin to receive medical attention.”

It remains to be seen whether the actions of the casino and its employees will be found to be negligent or reckless, and also whether it could be determined that their actions led to the death of the patron. Berkowitz and Hanna LLC will follow this case as it progresses.

Berkowitz and Hanna LLC did not represent any of the parties in this case.
